Amidst the historic yen depreciation, Da Nang, Vietnam, is known for offering affordable resort experiences.Indeed, when searching for hotels in Da Nang, most of them are available for under 10,000 yen per room.
Since accommodations are so affordable, I decided to stay at a relatively nice place for a reasonable price, and chose to stay at the Novotel Danang Premier Han River for three nights.
I chose this hotel because I read that it boasts landmark status in Da Nang due to its height.
However, in reality, isn’t there a Marriott Hotel standing proudly just 300 meters away, which is taller than the Novotel?
It seems to be an apartment, as it doesn’t come up in searches as a hotel. Therefore, the Novotel Hotel is effectively the tallest in Da Nang. Incidentally, the Marriott Executive Apartments appear to have been opened by Marriott as a key location in the Vietnamese market, but it seems you can’t stay there as a hotel. As of August 2024, the only Novotel Hotel in Japan is in Okinawa. While Hilton and Marriott are generally known for their luxury, it’s hard to gauge the ranking of Novotel Hotels. What one expects from such high-rise hotels are the views and the breakfast buffet. So, this time, I booked a corner room on a high floor with a breakfast plan
Although the reservation site is in English only, the official website offered the most reasonable price for a corner room with breakfast included.
When it comes to overseas hotels, I have always relied on Expedia. It maintains a certain level of quality among a mix of hotels, and there are plans available only on Expedia, making it the first site I check. However, from this experience, I learned that for hotels of a certain size with their own websites, it’s also worth checking the official page.
Now, as for the view from the Novotel Danang Hotel, it is simply unbeatable.
You can see the distant sea from the room and enjoy the night view of the Han River and Da Nang.
I had breakfast three times, and the side dishes and smoothies changed daily. The live kitchen’s pho also had minor changes in noodles and ingredients each day.
Additionally, they offer a variety of Western dishes, including cheese, prosciutto, and a bread corner, as well as kimchi and tteokbokki for Korean tourists.
The most luxurious breakfast buffet I’ve experienced so far was at the Shanghai Marriott. There, the vast buffet hall was filled with an enormous variety of food. Even the Western food corner had ham, cheese, and bread comparable to European hotels, and a veteran chef served wontons in the center.
While it wasn’t as extravagant, the breakfast at Novotel had a flavor that was not too strong, making it a taste I can recommend to all Japanese people.
The only drawback of the Novotel Hotel might be its distance from the sea. However, shopping areas are concentrated along the Han River, so it depends on what you prioritize in your trip.
If you’re not particularly interested in Da Nang’s beaches, the Novotel Hotel is definitely a place you should stay.
As mentioned in my blog posts about LUK LAK and Kim Restaurant, there are many delicious Vietnamese restaurants in the surrounding area.
