After arriving at New Chitose Airport, I had to head toward Lake Akan—a four-hour drive by car.
Since I arrived at the airport around noon, I decided to make the most of the opportunity and visit a famous soup curry spot in Chitose City.
The place I chose was Ramai.
It was a recommendation from the friendly staff at the rental car shop, and I had already marked it as a spot to visit.
Ramai is located alongside establishments like game centers and Bikkuri Donkey.
When I stepped inside, there were already about seven groups waiting.
The store is designed with a Bali-inspired concept, featuring Indonesian crafts displayed throughout the interior.
Since I was there, I decided to order their lassi. While I expected it to be yogurt-based, it was actually coconut milk-based—and absolutely delicious.
At Ramai, you can choose the amount of soup for your curry.
I opted for the large portion with pork. The chicken-based soup, infused with spices and fresh vegetables, perfectly complemented the dish. The deeply flavorful soup made the rice irresistible.
Ramai is loved by both locals and international visitors. It even has a location in Yokohama!
Back in my Tochigi days, I used to serve spice curry from a food truck. Inspired by my experience at Ramai, I returned to Kanagawa and whipped up some spice curry again after a long time.
The lassi at Ramai is also highly recommended. Its unique coconut milk base adds a delightful twist to the classic drink, making it a must-try!
